A man sentenced to jail for raping 2 years old baby

NEW DELHI: A shameful incident which was happened in January 2013 at Shalimar Bagh, West Delhi. A two and a half years old infant was sexually assaulted by a 55 years old Ram Singh. Now court took a decision to sentence culprit for 7 years jail. Also charged a fine of Rs 5000, after convicting him under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and section 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) of Indian Penal Code.
Court said Children are “supremely important national asset” for our nation. It’s our responsibility to take care of them. And the future well being of the nation depends on how its children grow and develop .Judge ordered Delhi State Legal Services Authority to grant compensation of Rs 1 lakh to victim child.
At the time of incident the baby was only two and a half year old and was dwelling with her parents and a younger six year old brother. He took a baby to his own hut, when he observed girl’s mother is busy in some other work and raped her badly.
The court added if mother had intervened, the victim would have suffered graver harm at the hands of Singh.
“It’s a matter of a life of a child and her family, consequently, no leniency is called for this incident. We will reinforce to stringent more rules and regulations for the welfare of society,” shared court.
