AAP questions Modi’s fitness to govern after fresh round of vendetta begins against officer

Aam Aadmi Party condemns the brazenly vindictive manner in which IAS officer Pradeep Sharma is being treated by the Gujarat Police. The AAP does not vouch for the innocence of the said officer in the charges against him, but at the same time, the action being taken against him is clearly out of line and extreme.

Pradeep Sharma had submitted to the Supreme Court an affidavit which claimed that he was being hounded by the former Gujarat Chief Minister and current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. According to Sharma, Mr Modi had ordered the illegal snooping of a woman and had employed the Gujarat Police, the Intelligence Bureau and the ATS in such activities. The woman’s movements, interactions and many other personal details were being tracked by the state machinery of Gujarat at the behest of the former CM. Pradeep Sharma had claimed he was being targeted because of his knowledge of Mr Modi’s unusual interest in the victim of the snooping.

During a press conference held by the Aam Aadmi Party at its headquarters, senior leader Ashish Khetan said, “The way Narendra Modi is running his reign of vindictive politics is dangerous for the country. Mr Modi is targeting his opponents in a systematic manner, be it his action against Pradeep Sharma, other officers, AAP MLAs or against the AAP Govt in Delhi.”

Khetan also questioned the Prime Minister’s legitimacy and fitness to lead the Government. He said, “Can we trust the country’s administration in the hands of a person who spends his every waking moment in plotting the ‘fixing’ of all his political opponents? Is such a person psychologically and temperamentally fit ro run the country?”

The AAP strongly condemns the Prime Minister’s vindictive behaviour. A Prime Minister should lead the nation by spending all his time towards governance and developmental activities. Instead, Mr Modi appears to only be concerned with political persecution. He appears wholly unfit to the lead this country as the Prime Minister.
