New Delhi (India), 22nd Jan 2023: The air quality in the capital city of India, Delhi, remained in the “poor category” on Sunday morning, with smog enveloping the city.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was measured at 245.
The poor air quality in the city is a cause of concern for residents, as it can lead to health problems such as respiratory issues and heart disease.
However, there may be some relief in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in the city between January 24 and 27. A western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India, bringing much-needed rain to the city.
This would be the first rainfall in the city since November, marking the longest dry spell in winter over the past six years. The rainfall is expected to help clear the smog and improve the air quality in the city.
