New Delhi (India), 6th April 2023: In an effort to further its entertainment ambitions in India, Amazon India declared on April 5 that it had signed a Letter of Engagement with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to support Indian creative talent, build capacity across film and TV institutes, and promote Made in India creative content internationally.

To commemorate the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, content from the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Doordarshan, and International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be featured on the company’s subscription-based streaming platform Prime Video and ad-supported service miniTV.

According to Amazon India, speeches by the Indian President and Prime Minister as well as information on significant events of national significance, public interest campaigns, and daily news updates will be made accessible via Amazon Music and Alexa.

Amazon India will also choose books and journals from MIB’s Publication Division across categories to highlight as part of a special storefront feature.

IMDb will collaborate with NFDC to increase the discoverability of India’s creative talent. In order to give students at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTII) real-world job experience and prepare them for the “industry,” Prime Video and miniTV will both work to provide internships and scholarships to students from various institutions.

Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports said, “ The partnership would help to strengthen industry-academia ties and shorten the period of adversity for talented individuals leaving India’s top film schools.”

Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Prime Video said, “Our holistic collaboration with MIB, looks at every life stage and every-corner of integration to stimulate the growth of the industry, and we are very optimistic of the pathways that it will create.”
