New Delhi, January 21: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sent a recommendation to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to end weekend curfew.
In his proposal, he has also requested to eliminate the odd-even system in the markets & allow private offices to function at 50% capacity.
This recommendation has been made by the government after witnessing dip in Covid cases in the National Capital this week.
Moreover, Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday has also said that, “spike which Delhi saw can be considered as the peak of the Covid wave and it seems that we are past the peak now; the number of daily cases has come down in the last few days. Over 13,000 cases were recorded yesterday with a positivity rate of close to 24 per cent. And today, the number of cases is lesser than that.”
The national capital on Thursday recorded 12,306 new Covid-19 cases and 43 more fatalities, with the test positivity rate dropping to 21.48 per cent, as per data provided by the state health department.
Weekend curfew was imposed in the Capital earlier in January in wake of the rising Covid cases in the capital ordered from 10 pm Fridays to 5 am Monday
During weekend lockdown, only people participating in essential services and those in an emergency situation are permitted to leave during weekend curfew hours, and only with government passes or legitimate identity cards. Except for those providing necessities such as groceries and medications, all stores were forced to close.
