Anita Barar’s Documentary ‘Crossing the Border’ Screened at BIMTECH, Greater Noida!

Greater Noida: On Wednesday, a Documentary Film named “Crossing the Border” was screened at BIMTECH, Greater Noida. The Short Movie is written and directed by Anita Barar, an Indian filmmaker and media person settled in Australia. The project is in association with Majlis-The Debating and Theatre Society.

The film tracks the history of partition and the human factor of borders and boundaries, politics of divide and the notion of identity. It also documents the experiences and narratives of a few of Sydney based seniors of India and Pakistan about their crossing the border in 1947.

After the screening of movie Ten News interacted with the director of the Movie, Speaking to Ten News Anita Barar said, “this movie narrates the memory of Sydney based seniors of India and Pakistan that what happened when they crossed the border at the time of partition in 1947.

When asked what’s the reason behind you picking such a sensitive topic for the movie? She explained that “As my parents moved from Pakistan to India at the time partition. So I grew up with hearing stories of it. At that time I don’t able to relate with this but when I shifted to Sydney Australia there i met few Indian and Pakistani people those who witnessed that era. So I got curious that what they feel about each other now when they meet as at a point of time there is an environment of the hate between them.

Further she said that “The motive of the movie is to depict human stories and the to covey message that we should stop blaming each other, what happens at that time was just an ugly situation because of whatever reason. So the message is that we should love each other.

After the screening everyone was touched and got emotional and also had shared their feedback . At the end of the screening, Anita Barar was felicitated by presenting a lord Krishna painting.
