Noida, (27/3/2019): The Aqua Line Metro connecting Noida and Greater Noida completed its 2 months of service on 25th March 2019.

The 29 kms metro service had a ridership of 13000 on the first day of operation on 25th January. Now the ridership has increased to 17000, which is a 30% increase in ridership. The NMRC has also earned around 2 crores from the Aqua Line Metro service in 2 months.

While interacting with Ten News, PD Upadhyay, Executive Director of NMRC said, “The rise in ridership is due to the parking facilities we have provided in around 10 stations recently. We have started the free e-rickshaw service which took the commuters to the desired metro station. Also we have made a pathway which connects sector 51 metro station of Aqua Line to sector 52 metro station of Blue Line. Connecting the Blue line to the Aqua line results in the increase of ridership of the metro because now people can directly go to Delhi from Greater Noida. We have also reduced the fares for commuters travelling on Sundays and National Holidays”.

“We have earned around 1 crore per month from the metro service, which equals to approx 2 crores in these 2 months. We have aimed to reach 25000 ridership in the coming months. The ridership of some sectors like 144, 145 etc has been very low because of the lack of residential facilities there, we have connected them through feeder bus service also we have increased the feeder service in other stations also”, he added.

The Aqua Line Metro make 163 trips during the day, and the frequency is 10 minutes during the peak hours. The top five stations in terms of ridership are sector 51, 76, NSEZ, Knowledge Park 2 and Pari Chowk.
