New Delhi, 17 October 2022: On the New Delhi-Howrah Duronto Express, some armed criminals stole thousands of rupees’ worth of valuables from more than six passengers at Khushrupur and Manjhauli Halt in the Danapur section of the East Central Railway on Sunday. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
Prakash Kumar Panda, the senior commander of the Danapur RPF, reported that four victims’ passengers filed a complaint with the Jasidih GRP when the train arrived there at around 4am. According to him, the charge has been filed under Section 379 of the IPC.
Several thieves reportedly entered the train under the guise of passengers as soon as it departed Patna Junction, plundering the passengers in one or two carriages.
After pulling the alarm chain of the train as it was coming to a stop, the armed criminals later fled with the valuables under cover of darkness, according to sources.
In order to find and apprehend the criminals, railroad security officers have initiated a manhunt, according to Panda, who also noted that the joint investigation of the GRP Jasidih and Danapur division RPF teams was taking place.
Panda has announced the formation of a special RPF team to find the offenders and apprehend them quickly. RPF teams were also looking through CCTV footage from Patna Junction and other stations in the division for any signs of the suspects. He added that no arrests had been made as of late Sunday night.
