A culture of high rise apartment has flourished quite well in Noida during the last decade. You can call it need of the hour or people’s fascination towards having home in a high rise. However, the societies developed in last one decade and some that are just one or two years old, are full of complaints of malfunctioning of the lifts.

The recent incident is of ATS Pristine Golf Villas, Sector – 150 Noida, where on September 16 around 2 PM after a power cut, a lift in tower 2 fell down from 20th floor to 17th floor. At the time of incident, an old lady with her maid were present in the lift. The lady suffered some medical complications because of the jerk generated from sudden fall of lift.

On promise of not disclosing name, one of the resident told, “The situation is getting more pathetic day by day and incidents like this are getting frequent. In the past couple of months more than half a dozen such incidents got reported in tower 11 , 4 , 2 etc. Even after number of complaints the society administration did not take any action and they keep making excuses.”

Further he told, “The lifts are not equipped with UPS system which enables it to work normally during a power cut. Most of the societies are equipped with it now a days but our society lack this facility. Though, we are living in one of the most premium societies and pay 33,000 a quarter for the maintenance, we are getting this kind of service that is risky for our lives.”

Many of the residents and children are getting late because of the lifts, as many a times they get stuck in them. It is life risking as many people suffer from anxiety issues as well. While it may be tough for flat-owner to move out of their houses located on the upper floors, tenants have moved to the lower floors owing to the consistent problem of faulty elevators.
