Beating retreat before R-Day, Arvind Kejriwal declares face-saver a ‘great victory’
Two cops being sent on leave was good enough reason for Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to call off his stir. After escalating the state government’s confrontation with the Centre by demanding the suspension of five policemen, and after announcing that this demand was non-negotiable, Kejriwal lost no time on Tuesday to accept Lt Governor Najeeb Jung’s appeal – sugar-coated with the holiday notice to the two policemen – to call off his agitation while declaring that it was a “great victory” for the people of Delhi.
