Bihar, Oct 3rd, 2022: Bihar agricultural minister Sudhakar Singh, who is known for his outspokenness, tendered his resignation on Sunday to the RJD party president and his father, Jagadanand Singh.
Jagdanand Singh said, “My son wanted to fight for the rights of farmers, but he was facing a lot of issues doing that, so he called it quit.”
Singh further said, “Someone needs to stand up for the farmers and the injustice being done to them. The agriculture minister took this up. Killing Mandi law ( Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Act) has destroyed the farmers of the state.”
He added that his son’s step was taken for the benefit of the farmers of the state.
“The statistics of the government itself indicate utter failure of the agriculture road maps in achieving their objectives on any count”, Sudhakar Singh had earlier commented.
A first-term RJD MLA from Ramgarh, Sudhakar Singh had left the chief minister Nitish Kumar fuming by candidly speaking about corruption and bureaucratic high-handedness in his department on several occasions.
Reacting to his resignation, the BJP party claimed that Singh was made to resign since he was revealing the ongoing corruption and other activities in Bihar.
“Sudhakar Singh had been raising his voice against ‘afsarshahi’ (bureaucratic high-handedness). This is something that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar cannot tolerate. Hence he has been made to resign”, said Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal.
