BIMTECH commemorates its 35th foundation day with famous play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya…’

To commemorate its 35th foundation day, BIMTECH Greater Noida organized a two-day drama festival on 30 Sep & 1 Oct. Day one witnessed the performance of a hard-hitting street play “NASHA” on the social evil alcoholism and addiction which was performed for the community at Birla vidya Kendra, Pari Chowk. In the evening the conscience of the citizens of NCR was further awakened after watching a stage play Moteram Ka Satygrah which mocks the system, particularly bureaucracy. It transports the viewer to the gallery of power in a funny journey. It is a short tale adaptation by Munshi Premchand. An examination of the bureaucratic system has been offered through the protagonist Moteram. The vibrant and lively delivery of the play by the theatre group was able to mesmerize the audience.

On day two the festival continued with the same zeal and enthusiasm. Today BIMTECH in collaboration with the Asmita theatre group organized a street play “Mard” near Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida. The drama highlighted how males are conditioned to be tough and suppress their emotions, challenging the conventions of traditional masculinity. The play’s effective presentation was successful in grabbing passers-by’s attention and was able to gather great appreciation from the audience.

In the evening show, eminent drama group Asmita theatre group brought forward the stage play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya Woh Jamyai Nai, the story, which takes place in 1947, is about an elderly Hindu woman in Lahore who, after being robbed of her son and family as a result of the partition violence, refuses to let a Muslim refugee family from Lucknow to steal her of her home. After suffering the traumatic dislocation caused by partition, the Muslim family is in a desperate situation and is not opposed to calling in the local political goons. The goondas move in, sensing the opportunity to take advantage of the circumstance, but they are oblivious to the power of human generosity.

The Indian theatrical panorama was inaugurated on September 30th by Chief Guest Professor (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra Gaur (Director, National School of Drama, New Delhi). Taking forward the ethos and values of social good of the Founders Syt Basant Kumar Birla and Smt. Sarala Birla several plays by the famous Asmita Theatre Group were staged to inculcate literary and cultural values amongst the current generation. The drama festival was organized by Majlis-Theatre and the debating society of BIMTECH.   Chief Guests on this occasion were Professor (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra Gaur (NSD, New Delhi) and Asghar Wajahat an eminent playwright.

Asghar Wajahat implored the youth and the audience to value hard earned freedom and ensure communal harmony in the society.

Other dignitaries felicitated were Arvind Gaur (Director of Asmita Theatre Group) and guests of honor Rear Admiral Satish Bajaj (AVSM, VSM), and Commander Anil Lanba.

Sarala Birla Award 2022 was presented to MS SAVEREE SRI GAUR, Senior artist, Asmita Theatre Group for her commendable contribution to bringing social change through her impactful work in the field of emancipatory theatre and movies. The award carried a citation and cash price of INR 50,000. On this day Director of BIMTECH announced 50% scholarship to artist who wish to pursue business studies at BIMTECH.
