CISC UP and UK regional football tournament 2019 kicks off at St. Joseph’s School

Greater Noida: CISC UP and UK regional football tournament kicked off at St. Joseph’s, Greater Noida in the esteemed presence of school manager Fr. Vinoy Pulivelil and Principal Fr. Alwyn Pinto, today. The three-day tournament will conclude on 25th August and the winners will be declared on that day.



The inaugural match was played in the U-19 boys’ category between Lucknow vs Varanasi at Jesus and Marry convent school, Greater Noida. While in the junior category, a match between Ghaziabad vs Gorakhpur was played at St Joesph’s home ground.

The tournament this year will see a total of 21 teams under both the categories from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The teams for both categories were divided into two pools. The programme began with a welcome dance and song presented by the school students.

Addressing the students, Principal Fr Alwyn Pinto urged the players to show sportsman spirit. He said, “You are not Kauravas and Pandava fighting a battle. Winning and losing is a part of life but the most important thing is you need to play well so that at the end of the game you will have a greater satisfaction even if you win or lose.”

He also greeted and wished luck to all the players for their upcoming matches.

School manager Fr. Vinoy Pulivelil in his address majorly focused on discipline during the games. He urged all the players to maintain the decorum of sports and to follow the instructions carefully.
