THE CONFLICT AT KIRARI HAS NO RELATION TO CHHATH PUJA, IT IS THE RESULT OF MLA RITU RAJ’s EFFORT TO OCCUPY THE GRAM SABHA LAND – Satish Upadhyay

New Delhi, 6th November.  Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay has said that the conflict witnessed yesterday at Nithari Vilage in Kirari Vidhansabha has no relation to Chhath festivity, it is the result of MLA Rituraj Govind’s effort to occupy the Gram Sabha land.  Delhi BJP demands that the Crime Branch of Delhi Police should look into the matter as a land grabbing case.

Shri Upadhyay has said that with the increasing population of people from Poorvanchal in Kirari Vidhansabha need was felt for an additional temporary Chhath Puja Ghat in the area.  With this in mind at the initiative of former MLA Shri Anil Jha the local people unanimously decided that a temporary Chhath Ghat be made at Gram Sabha land of Nithari Village but no political party or leader should be involved.

Around 4-5 days back local Aam Aadmi Party workers led by MLA Ritu Raj created fencing of the land and put up welcome gates with the pictures of Dy. Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. This angered the local population which resisted politicization of the Chhath Ghat. Yesteday afternoon former MLA Shri Anil Jha pacified the local villagers who agreed to allow setting up the Chhath Ghat. Unfortunately around that time Delhi Police arrested Sh. Anil Jha for violation of Section 144.  BJP condemns his arrest.

Shri Upadhyay has said that MLA Ritu Raj & AAP workers are responsible for the dispute at Kirari as instead of setting up a temporary Puja Ghat they tried to illegally occupy the Gram Sabha land. In past too MLA Ritu Raj has been involved in controversies related to land mafia in the area.
