DELHI BJP WILL EXTEND FULL CO-OPERATION TO GOVERNMENT IN THE FIGHT AGAINST POLLUTION BUT INSTEAD OF MAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS GOVERNMENT SHOULD DO CONCRETE WORK, THE WORK OF REMOVAL OF DEBRIS & DUST FROM THE ROAD SIDES SHOULD BE STARTED ON WAR FOOTING AND INSTALLATION OF CNG KITS IN VEHICLES SHOULD BE RE-STARTED.

New Delhi, 6th November.   Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay has said that no doubt it is the need of the hour that everyone should come together in the fight against pollution but Delhi Cabinet today’s announcement of some steps to fight pollution have again exposed its lack of knowledge in the matter. It appears that the Government believes in making frantic announcements without caring how they would implement them. Delhi BJP will extend full co-operation to Government in the fight against pollution but instead of making announcements Government should do concrete work, the work of removal of debris & dust from the road sides should be started on war footing and installation of CNG kits in vehicles should be re-started.

BJP has been for long demanding that a committee of specialist be formed to analyse the reasons behind heavy environment pollution in Delhi but the Government is only making hurried announcements. They have announced the closure of Badarpur Themal Power Plant and D.G. Sets for 10 days which can push Delhi into a new power crisis. Similarly, we failed to understand that how will they stop dust pollution by banning construction activity for 5 days.

There is a lot of dust pollution on Delhi roads but Government has presented no concrete plan to deal with it. The proposal of water sprinkling on the roads suggested by Kejriwal Government is too childish, in such a big city how will you manage sprinkling and where do you have that much water. Delhi BJP demands that extra temporary labour be employed to remove debris and dust from road sides on a war footing.

Kejriwal Government has today again indicated towards bringing Odd-Even Vehicle system but the proof of Government’s unserious attitude is that there is blanket ban on fitting of CNG kits in vehicles in Delhi. At a time when Supreme Court of India & N.G.T. have been stressing on encouraging CNG vehicles for last 6 months, there is a ban on registration of vehicles switching over to CNG and the Government is sleeping over the matter.

We demand that Government make arrangements to encourage people to adopt CNG vehicles.

We have often seen that Delhi Government hastily announces closure of school and colleges and feels that the responsibility is over. Every year during this season children suffer a lot due to fog and it is advisable that Delhi Government should amend school timings during winter months.
