New Delhi, (13/4/2019): Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala today, held a press conference just hours after French newspaper Le Monde reported that French authorities waived off Anil Ambani’s taxes worth millions after the announcement of the Rafale jet deal in 2015.
Addressing the press conference, Randeep Surjewala said, “This morning, a French newspaper published a sensational report on the Rafale deal. Is PM Modi working as a middleman for Anil Ambani? “Chowkidar chor hai” and his “chori” has been caught.”
Randeep Surjewala further said that “when PM Narendra Modi met the Defence Minister of France on April 23, 2015, the contract was with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. On April 28, the defence secretary said that PM Modi would not talk about the Rafale aircraft and the contract is with the HAL.”
He said, “In 2007-2010, Anil Ambani’s France based company was sent a tax remand of 60 million euros which increased to 150 million euros after more investigations but Anil Ambani’s company offered to pay seven million.”
“After the Rafale deal was signed, Anil Ambani’s 143 million tax was waived off and he only paid seven million tax. “Modi hai toh mumkin hai”, he added.
Earlier in the day, French national newspaper Le Monde reported that the French authorities waived off Indian businessman Anil Ambani’s France-based telecom company taxes worth 143.7 million euros or 162.6 million dollars.
