Congress’ false claims on unauthorised colonies exposed by CAG report: Goel
Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi BJP President Sh. Vijay Goel today said
that the blatant lies of Congress have been exposed by the CAG report on unauthorised colonies which
exposed the lack of use of funds and absence of facilities in unauthorised colonies during Congress rule in
In a statement issued today Sh. Goel said, “The CAG report says that the urban development department
of the government has failed to provide basic services like sewer lines, water lines, roads and drainage to
all the 895 unauthorized colonies despite incurring an expenditure of Rs 3,029.21 crore up to March 2013.”
“We had raised this issue in the past that how Congress claims of development in unauthorised colonies
were blatant lies. We are going to press for action against all those inc power in Delhi and were responsible
Sh. Goel said it is clear that thousands of crores of rupees went down the drain even as no basic facilities
were provided. “The point is who pocketed this money? We must remember that this was hard earned
money of taxpayers and accountability must be fixed for the misuse of funds.”
“It is clear that Congress displayed gross insensitivity to the needs of lakhs of people in unauthorised
colonies. All its claims regarding any development in these colonies remained on paper. Chief Minister
Sheila Dikshit and her cabinet was responsible for it.”
Sh. Goel said , the CAG report also points out clearly that even the regularisation process of these colonies
was not carried out properly leaving many gaps. The Urban Development Ministry during UPA regime failed
“The CAG report indicates how Congress adopted a very casual and ad-hoc approach to an issue which
affected lives of atleast three to four million residents in Delhi. It is shocking and it also shows the Congress
regime in Delhi and UPA regime at Centre was hand in glove in this scam.”
