CONGRESS WORKERS, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DPCC PRESIDENT SHRI Ajay Maken, PAY FLORAL TRIBUTE TO SHRI RAJIV GANDHI ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY.

NEW DELHI, May 21—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), under the leadership of its president Shri Ajay Maken,  organised a function to mark the 25th death anniversary of former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the architect of  computer revolution and modern development in India, at Rajiv Bhawan, the DPCC office, here today. Thousands of Congress workers and senior leaders of the  party, including Shri Ajay Maken and AICC in-charge of Delhi Shri P.C.Chacko, offered floral tributes at the portrait of Rajivji.

After that, Shri Ajay Maken and Shri P.C.Chacko flagged off the “Rajiv Rath”, arranged by the Pradesh Congress, which will tour all the District Congress Committees and screen a short film on Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The “Rajiv Rath” is fitted with both video and audio recordings, and also a big screen to show a film on Rajiv Ji’s life. Shri Ajay Maken said the “Rajiv Rath” will tour all the District Congress Committees from May 21 to 23 to enlighten the common people about the life of Shri Rajiv Gandhi.

Shri Ajay Maken said Shri Rajiv Gandhi, with his modern outlook and vision, took the country to a new height of development, and gave constitutuional rights to young men and women, for which the country has been looking forward to many years.

Besides DPCC president  Shri Ajay Maken and  Shri PC Chacko, prominent others who paid homage to Shri Rajiv Gandhi were ex-MP  Shri Sajjan Kumar, Shri Naseeb Singh, Smt. Barkha Singh, former Delhi Minister Smt. Kiran Walia,  Dineshwar Tyagi,  ex-MLAs Bhisham Sharma, Kunwar Karan Singh, Anil Bhardwaj, Surender Pal Singh Bittoo, DCC presidents Madan Khorwal,  Virender Kasana, Hari Kishan Jindal, Surender Pal Singh Bittoo, Om Dutt Yadav, Laxman Rawat, Brahm Yadav, Chattar Singh, Shivram Singh and thousands of Congress workers.

Shri Ajay Maken said Rajivji gave a new direction to the country, and it was due to his vision and wisdom that India made great strides in initiating major development projects and progress. He said Shri Rajiv Gandhi was always concerned about the welfare and development of the people, particularly the poor, the downtrodden and women. He started many welfare schemes for the uplift of the poor, Dalits, women, old people and the villagers.
