National, 30th June 2023: The deadline for linking your Permanent Account Number (PAN) to your Aadhaar card is today(30th June). Currently, it is unclear whether the government would extend the deadline.
According to data from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), there is a significant disparity between the number of PAN cards issued and those linked to Aadhaar numbers.
According to a February study, around 610 million individual PANs have been issued to date. Around 480 million of these have been connected to Aadhaar.
The prior deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar had been extended to June 30 from March 31st. The CBDT has made linking your PAN to your Aadhaar number mandatory.
If you do not link your PAN to Aadhaar, your PAN will be become inactive as of tomorrow. Almost all functions of your PAN will be unavailable, you will be unable to undertake financial or tax transactions.
Furthermore, you will be unable to file tax returns or obtain tax refunds. As a result, linking your PAN and Aadhaar numbers becomes mandatory.
