New Delhi, March 9: Delhi has been put on alert after reports that two ISIS Khorasan terrorists may be hiding in the city. Quoting sources, a TV report on India Today reported that security has been beefed up outside Parliament and across Delhi after inputs that two ISIS men could be hiding in the city and could be planning a retaliatory attack after the Lucknow encounter. More details are awaited on this as search continues in the city.

Meanwhile, a seventh arrest was made in Auraiya on Wednesday in connection with the explosion on board the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train that happened on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Saifullah, a suspect allegedly linked to the explosion, was shot dead on the outskirts in Lucknow in a fierce encounter that lasted almost 12 hours on Tuesday. The encounter was carried out in Thakurganj area of Lucknow, moments after a low-intensity blast hit the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train leaving nine people injured. While Saifullah was killed, six other suspected terrorists were arrested from different spots. Maenwhile, reports indicate that at least five more suspects from the same group may be hiding even as a hunt is on for them.

According to reports, Saifullah and other members of his group were radicalised online by the Islamic State propaganda. Following this, they formed a self-proclaimed IS outfit called ISIS Khurasan. “The module was formed a year ago by Atif Muzaffar alias Al Kasim and was named ISIS Khurasan,” said Madhya Pradesh ATS SP Pranay Nagvanshi. He also said that the group tested a timer-bomb in an open field in Kanpur in August-September 2016.
