New Delhi: On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal burnt a copy of the BJP 2014 special manifesto for Delhi in which BJP had promised full statehood for the national capital. All MLAs have been asked to do the same in their constituencies on Friday and ward in-charges on Sunday.
Hitting back at AAP, Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of trying to mislead people on statehood.
“Aam Aadmi Party has failed the people who had given it such a strong mandate to govern. Arvind Kejriwal decided to stop the Republic Day parade, he had lost the battle for statehood by disregarding the constitution time and again. In addition to not considering practicalities involved in declaring a UT as a state, Tiwari said that AAP is only raising this issue before the upcoming polls in order to cover up its failures in the last four years,” Said BJP Chief.
He further said, “There are serious complications that will arise as result of granting statehood to Delhi. For example he raised the question of where the Union Government would operate from if Delhi becomes a state”
He has also questioned whether the party has ever had an all party meeting regarding this issue, taking a dig at supposedly undemocratic practices within AAP.
