#Delhi’s tax-free record is almost ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ for films

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, known for his penchant for films and tweeting his reviews, has announced Nil Battey Sannata as tax-free, the third in the capital this year. The news came as a surprise to those in the film business, as they’re not used to hearing the term ‘tax-free’ from the Delhi government.

On the contrary, if it’s UP, no one gives a second thought because it has been a windfall for films in the state in the last few years. During his tenure of four years, between March 2012 and April this year, CM Akhilesh Yadav made 30 films tax-free in UP, and approximately 12 films in the last one year alone. However, between January 2015 and April this year, Delhi announced only three tax-free films, and all of them this year.
