Diljit Dosanjh creates history, becomes First Punjabi Singer to Perform at Coachella

New Delhi (India), 16th April 2023: Fans were shocked when singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh appeared on stage at Coachella on Saturday. Additionally, he is the first performer from Punjab to take the stage at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California. During his performance, Diljit looked dashing in a black kurta and tamba, a traditional Punjabi costume. He added a turban and sunglasses to complete his ensemble.

Fans from across the country gathered to watch the iconic star perform. Diljit posted a clip from his performance to Instagram, but American DJ Diplo also used the platform to broadcast a video of himself dancing and vibing to Diljit live. Diljit’s performance was also teased on Twitter by Coachella’s official account for their followers.

The singer had earlier shared brief clips from backstage as he prepared for his performance. He could be seen in the photos sporting a black hat, denims, and a blue checked shirt.

As they left sincere comments on the posts, the singer’s followers expressed their admiration for him as well. “Historic night in California and proud, inspiring, moment for Punjab and the entire diaspora worldwide,” a fan wrote. “Punjabi artist exhibiting Punjabi culture & bringing pride to our pagh (turban) – nothing better,” said a different person. Another comment said, “So many people value this. genuinely causes eyes to water.”
