#DonaldTrump condemns hate crimes, defends immigration policy in first address to US Congress as President: Highlights
Washington, March 1: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, in his first address to the US Congress on Tuesday, reiterated that he will put America before anyone and anything else. Having completed 40 days as the President of the US, Trump was slightly toned down even as he remained critical of radical Islamic terrorism and Obamacare. Donald Trump began with condemning the killing of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla in a racial attack in Kansas and said, “We condemn hate in all its ugly forms, the threats targeting Jewish centres and the Kansas shooting.”
Post the condemning of the hate crimes, he went on to defend his immigration policy saying that the new policy will help bring more employment. “By finally enforcing immigration laws, we will raise wages, help unemployed, save billions of dollars, and make our communities safer,” Trump said.
Emphasising his ‘America first’ pitch, Trump said that his administration would bring newer reforms for American companies to work easy in the country. “We must restart the engine of the American economy, making it easier for companies to do business in the US and much harder for them to leave. My team is developing historic tax reform that will reduce the tax rate on our companies & provide massive tax relief for the middle class. I believe in free trade, but it also must be fair trade. I’m not going to let our great companies and workers be taken advantage of anymore,” Donald Trump said.
