DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken announces Helpline No 9891620771 to receive complaints on viral fever like chikungunya and dengue on Whatsapp and SMS for proper guidance to patients as part of the party’s social responsibility.

  • DPCC sets up medical control room at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan.
  • Delhi Congress to hold “Bhagoda Diwas” on 16th September in all the 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi to expose the misgovernance of the AAP Government.
  • The AAP Government wasted crores of rupees to hold a special session of the Assembly to discuss its power tussle with the Lt. Governor and the BJP-led Central Government instead of discussing the issues afflicting the people of Delhi like chikungunya and dengue—Ajay Maken.

NEW DELHI, Sept. 14—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken said here today that with Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia, the Lt. Governor and the Mayor deserting Delhi to leave the people of Delhi to their own fate in tackling spiralling cases of vector-borne diseases like chikungunya, dengue and malaria, the Delhi Congress has opened a Helpline No 9891620771 in which people can Whatsapp and SMS cases of viral diseases which will be attended by a team of doctors, headed by Dr Prem Agarwal, at a Control Room set up at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan. He said the Delhi Congress was doing this as a social responsibility since the people who were supposed to address the viral fever on a war-footing were away from Delhi.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today, Shri Maken said Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who are away to Bangalore and Finland respectively, should immediately cut short their visits and return to Delhi to address the issues afflicting Delhi chikungunya and dengue, which have taken epidemic proportions.  Similarly, he said the Lt. Governor and the Mayor should immediately cut short their visits abroad and return to Delhi, as the people of Delhi were suffering in the absence of proper governance and help. He said those people who Whatsapp or SMS viral fever cases to the DPCC medical control room will be given proper guidance on how to tackle  chikungunya and dengue, and serious cases would be referred to the district and block presidents to take up for proper treatment  as a social responsibility of the party.

Shri Maken said the Congress party will hold 16th September, 2016 (Friday), as “Bhagoda Diwas” in all the 70 Assembly constituencies  to expose the failures of the AAP government in Delhi. He said the main reason for the spread of chikungunya and dengue to an unprecedented level this year was due to the failure of the AAP Government in the timely completion of the desilting process before the monsoon rains hit the Capital. He said the desilting process of the big 1014 PWD roads should have been completed by 15th May, 2016, but sadly only 30 per cent of the desilting process was carried out by 6th July, 2016. He said the Delhi government seemed to have learnt no lessons from the viral fever epidemic last year, which  had claimed many lives.

Shri Maken said the Delhi Government was misleading the people of Delhi by giving out wrong data to hide the magnitude of   chikungunya and dengue cases, and he requested the authorities to disclose the correct figures so that people are alerted to the extent of the epidemic, as there is perhaps not a single family not affected by viral fever.

Shri Maken said crores of rupees were spent to hold a special session of the Delhi Assembly recently, but instead of discussing the issues affecting the people like chikungunya and dengue, the session was wasted to discuss the AAP Government’s fight with the Lt. Governor and the BJP-led Central Government. He said from day one after assuming power in Delhi, Kejriwal has been looking for excuses for not doing any work, instead of sitting across with the Lt. Governor, the Mayors and others to thrash out their differences so that governance is not affected. He said if Kejriwal was not able to run the Government, he should resign and go, as the Congress party was willing to take up the challenge and run the show in Delhi in these trying circumstances, as the Congress party had done in Delhi for 15 years. He said when Congress was in power in Delhi, it had problems with the Lt. Governor and the NDA Government at the Centre, but the Congress Government did not go public with its differences, and ironed out its differences quietly.

Shri Maken said the Congress Government also did not get officers of their choice to run the Government, but Congress worked amicably with whichever official was given to the Capital to run the administration effectively. But the Kejriwal Government was deserting Delhi on one pretext or another to feather its political nests in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat, leaving the people of Delhi, who elected the AAP to power with a massive majority, to fend for themselves.
