New Delhi: On February 27, thousands of pensioners hailing from several states of India old protest in the national capital to express their anger against the ruling government in centre.
The protest was joined by old age pensioners mostly assumed to be in thier 60s.
The massive protest was held under the banner of EPS 95 National Agitation Committee under the leadership of commander Ashok Regards (Retd.), Conveyor and President of the committee.
Speaking to ten news Ashok Rawat shares that pension issues faced by the old age people, according to him the pensioners are getting very very low pension around 1000 to 1500 per month, which alone can’t fulfill their medical expenses, in this small amount how these pensioners will manage to survive a respectable life.
In past years, National Agitation Committeeommittee has called various Agitations including long marches dharnas, Bhiksha Andolan, hunger strikes and half naked agitation in a hope that government will not realise their demands, but always be left empty handed.
The pensioners also claim that devar watching the budget with the Great Hope. however, they all started as there was nothing for them in the budget.
Now these oldest fashioners are dying almost everyday waiting for their legitimate right.
The pensioners also submitted a letter with mentioning their issues to the Prime Minister of India Finance Minister and Minister of Labour and Employment and and who’s that the government will provide solution of their issues during the last days of tenure.
Here are some some major demands of the pensioners:
1. Withdrawal of PPF or interim advisory pen-I / 12 / 33 / EPS Amendment 96/Vol.II/4432 Dated 31 May 2017 giving pensioners the choice of higher pension.
2. Rupees 7500/- as a basic pension plus DA. Until this demand is fulfilled RS 5000/- plus DA be granted as interim relief considering inflation since Koshiyari Committee Recommendation that is Rs. 3000 or more + D A.
3. provide free medical facilities to all EPS 95 pensioners and their spouses.
4. EPS 95 retired employees who are not member of EPS 95 School be allowed ex Post Facto membership by recovering contribution with interest and allowing them their 2 due errors. Otherwise they were granted fix Rupees 5000 per month towards pension.
