Noida: A family coming out of The Great India Place mall clashed with guards near gate no.11 on the intervening night of September 11 and 12.

While the family alleged they had been attacked by the guards, the mall management claimed the visitors wanted to leave without paying the parking fee and created a ruckus.

A non-cognizable report has been filed against the two guards, Dev and Arun, on a complaint by the family.

Rahul Jain, a Sector 33 resident, his wife and the family of his friend were coming out of the mall around 11.55pm on September 11.

According to the complaint, when the family found that the barrier gate had been put down, they asked the guards to pull it up and let them go. “But they got violent and attacked our car. They abused us and hit my husband with sticks on the head,” reads the complaint by Rahul’s wife.

It adds that Rahul suffered a serious head injury and is admitted to a private hospital.
However, the mall administration contested the sequence of events.

Virendra Tyagi, liasoning manager of the mall, claimed that the clash began when Rahul and the others refused to pay the parking fee and attacked the man at the counter.

“All of them seemed drunk and attacked our representative. They dragged him out of the counter and destroyed the computer system there,” he said.

The mall management shared four CCTV clips to buttress its claim.
In one of the videos, Rahul can be seen pulling up the barrier gate and having an argument with the guards while the other video shows the man at the parking counter being dragged out.

In the third clip, Rahul pulls down the computer terminal inside the counter. In another video, Rahul and a woman can be seen jostling with the guards.

Sudhir Kumar Singh, senior sub-inspector at Sector 39 police station, said that an FIR had been lodged against the two guards under IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
