Faridabad based School got prestigious international award

The time has come when the school kids of India would be exchanging their learning experiences and knowledge with the students of other SAARC countries. The facility provides ‘Project based learning’ with sharing of knowledge by the students of all the SAARC countries within their partner countries in the particular project. The program offering the exchange of knowledge is promoted by British Council and is an annual affair. Out of more than 100 schools contesting the 7 stage multi platform contest, only about 20 are selected from all over the world.

From the schools selected from the Northern part of the country Faridabad has shared the moment of prestige for the first time with Eicher School getting the prestigious “International School Award (ISA) 2014-15”. The ISA program is a project based learning which fosters team spirit, collaboration, critical in-depth thinking and embedding global themes in regular curriculum. The year-long journey was a great learning experience for the students as they worked on seven projects namely games, food across countries, magical minds, disaster management, endangered species, and mystery of space and SAARC nations. The 7 stage process is actually preparation of 7 different projects which not only expose the students to the basics of environment, vegetables, astronomy, and the world of planets but also make them generate their own understanding about what they feel about the unexplored subject at their age. The projects allotted were distributed to the students on the basis of their caliber denoted by their academic classes. For example the project of Games: the past time for kids was given to the students of class KG and I whereas the project on Magical mind was given to the students of class III. The students of class VIII and IX were given the project on Mystery of space while the students of class IX and XI were found working on the role of SAARC nations in the development of the segment.

Aparna Sharma, the coordinator shared the experience of the teachers and the students of their trip to Bhutan for participation in the project. It was a lifetime experience as shared by the students too moving as a part of team consisting of 100 members. Aparna said that it was really a lifetime experience for the students to work with students of Palestine in one project while their counterparts working on some other project found working with the students of Pakistan. The project has not only bagged them the prestigious award but have also enriched their life with the experience of collaboration, team work and brotherhood. They have also shared the features of different cultures of the world during the project. Aparna said that the school is planning to share their experience with the other schools of NCR and also see how the experience can help in upbringing of social environment.

During the year long project the students also got an opportunity to interact with the celebrities of different fields. Students interacted with the Director of Nehru Planetarium Dr. Ratnashree and learnt about the mysteries of universe. As a part of another project students visited Bhutan and met the Prime Minister Tobgay and the Minister of Education Minbu. They also went to SAARC Forestry Centre where Sangay and ZaheerIqbal, Head of Documentation Centre spoke about the Role of SAARC in protecting the Endangered Species and Changes in the Climatic conditions of the SAARC nations.
