Farm sand removal cover for illegal sand mining

The National Green Tribunal on Friday issued a notice to UP government to respond to allegations that large-scale sand mining is continuing on riverbeds under the garb of removing it after it was deposited on farmlands during floods. The notice was issued on an application filed by Noida-based NGO Jan Sashaktikaran alleging illegal sand mining on the Yamuna riverbed in Noida.
