FIR against a youth for posting EVM pic on his Facebook profile

Greater Noida (12/4/2019) : The district administration has ordered registration of an FIR against a 29-year-old man for allegedly uploading a photo of the electronic voting machine (EVM) while casting his vote in Dadri on Thursday.


The incident came to light in the afternoon of the polling day after a Facebook post started circulating on social media in which the man, identified as Yug Shishodia, a resident Dadri, allegedly uploaded a selfie of his inked finger and a shot of the EVM from inside the booth while voting. The post also allegedly carried the caption “my vote for the country’s benefit, for Narendra Modi”.

 

Shishodia, however, denied the allegations . A class 12 passout, Shishodia is currently unemployed but has been a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Yuva Morcha. He also said that he saw others click photos of the EVM as well. By evening, however, Shisodia had deleted the post from his Facebook profile.

Afterwards, the district magistrate, who is also the district election officer, ordered an FIR be registered against Shishodia.

Meanwhile, another photo was circulated on social media in which a voter was shown pressing the button for the SP-BSP candidate but the person (in the photo) has not been identified yet.
