Hyderabad, 03rd July 2023: Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, a former BRS MP, joined the Congress party on Sunday at a public rally in Khammam. The party’s senior leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the rally, which also marked the end of a 109-day ‘padayatra’ by Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Seeking to kick off campaigning for the Legislative Assembly elections later this year, Congress made intricate plans to ensure Rahul Gandhi’s rally was a huge success.

Manikrao Thakre, AICC in charge of party affairs in Telangana, state Congress president A Revanth Reddy, party MPs N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and a slew of party heavyweights, including balladeer Gaddar, were in attendance.

The former Congress president congratulated Vikramarka on his marathon foot march.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka stated that he conducted the ‘padayatra’ from Adilabad to Khammam to restore ‘Indiramma’s welfare state,’ alluding to the popular term by which late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is known throughout Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

He stated that he wished to actualize the dream of a prosperous Telangana free of disparities. Vikramarka’s 1,360-kilometer ‘padayatra’ began on March 16 in Adilabad and ended today in Khamman.
