Four killed as cloudburst hits near #Sonamarg

Four persons including two children were killed and two went missing on Thursday when a cloudburst struck near Sonamarg, a place enroute to the Amarnath shrine, as Army stepped in to help Jammu and Kashmir government to cope with the nature”s fury.

The cloud-burst took place at Kellan village near Gagangir, 76 KMs from here at 6.30 PM, after which Srinagar-Leh highway was closed. Intially there was report of only one teenage ghirl being killed and police officials identified the deceased as a girl named Iqra Nazir. However as the rescue operation intensified on Friday morning, the unfortunate news of three more casualty was confirmed by the local police. As of now two person are still missing.  Army has mounted a relief operation to clear the national highway. Four Spanish and two civil engineers were rescused by the Army from this area immediately after the natural calamity.
