Galgotias University organizes Guest Lecture series on “Supreme Court – The Guardian of the Constitution”

The School of Law, Galgotias University organised a Guest Lecture series on “Supreme Court: – The Guardian of the Constitution and protector of Fundamental Rights.” The Event witnessed the august Presence of former Delhi High Court judge and Professor Emeritus School of Law, Hon’ble Justice J R Midha; Senior advocate of Supreme Court of India, Dr Pradeep Rai; and Dr. Niraj Kumar, Associate Professor, National Law University Delhi. The Director Operations, Ms. Aradhana Galgotia, Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University, Dr K. Mallikarjuna Babu and the Dean School of Law, Prof (Dr) Namita Singh Malik also graced the dias.

In her welcome Address, Aradhana Galgotias, Director Operations, welcomed the guest and students in the event. In her remarks, she emphasized the significance of such programmes in order to understand the changing facets of jurisprudence and also to guide the students on how to practice.
In his presidential remark, Hon’ble Justice J R Midha, Professor Emeritus School of Law, Galgotias University, highlighted the important skills for legal practice like communication skills, fundamentals of law and legal reasoning. He congratulated the School of Law for the event and commended them for holding such talks which are beneficial for students’ career.

Dr Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India delivered a detailed talk on “How to start Practice in Supreme Court of India”. In his address, it was stressed upon the students of Law, that reading and analysing the judgment is equally important. The Law students must be well versed with the proposition of Law, and judgments on the point. Dr Rai highlighted the need of maintaining the balance between class room, self-reading and physical health.

Niraj Kumar Associate Professor National Law University Delhi, highlighted the importance and various contours of constitutional morality. The Guests deliberates on the development of constitutional morality from the Naz foundation case till date. The scholar highlighted various judgments and approaches towards the study of Constitutional Morality and distinguished it from the idea of public morality.

Sunil Galgotia, Chancellor of Galgotias University, in his message told the students that both hard work and honesty are the basic mantras of success in life. University CEO Dhruv Galgotia told the students that the country’s judicial system will be in your hands in the coming times. Your work should reflect your honesty and your devotion to duty. This is what the country expects from you.

At the end, Prof (Dr) Namita Singh Malik delivered the Vote of Thanks to all invited guests, students and faculties. Dr Namita in her concluding remarks stated that law students must not only accumulate or disseminate the knowledge but through their reading and analysis, create knowledge as well.
