GHAZIABAD: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad, one on Wednesday, the other on Thursday. Both accidents were hit-and-run cases, with one involving a UP Roadways bus.

In the first, a 38-year-old man, identified as Vipin Sharma, was run over by an unidentified vehicle in Muradnagar, a few kilometers off NH-58 towards Rawli, on Wednesday night.

Sharma was rushed to a private hospital for treatment after the accident, but succumbed to his injuries later in the night. The accused driver managed to flee with the vehicle. A case has been registered in Muradnagar police station.

In the second accident, a UP Roadways bus crashed into the rear of an auto on NH-58 on Thursday night. Three people in the auto were injured, while a fourth, identified as Noor Mohammed, succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to a private hospital. The driver of the bus fled. Police said three of the occupants of the autorickshaw escaped with minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital after first aid.

The auto and the roadways bus were driving in the same direction – from Ghaziabad to Modinagar – at the time of their respective accidents.

Based on a complaint filed by Noor Mohammed’s son Junaid, an FIR was registered against the bus driver under IPC sections including 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving), in the Muradnagar police station. Ghaziabad Police have seized the bus. A hunt is on to nab the absconding driver.
