Greater Noida (10 November 2025): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, marked World Immunization Day 2025 with a special awareness programme organized by the Department of Pediatrics, reaffirming its dedication to protecting every life through vaccination. The event was held under the global theme “Immunization for All is Humanly Possible,” drawing participation from faculty members, medical students, healthcare workers, and residents from surrounding areas.
The celebration aimed to emphasize the life-saving importance of vaccines and the collective responsibility to ensure immunization coverage for people of all age groups.
Delivering the keynote address, Brig. (Dr.) Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS, described vaccines as one of the greatest scientific achievements of humankind—having saved over 154 million lives globally in the last five decades and playing a transformative role in reducing child mortality. He stressed that GIMS remains committed to extending immunization awareness and services beyond the hospital campus into neighboring communities.
Dr. Gupta further highlighted that vaccination is not limited to infants and children but must also include adults and expectant mothers to ensure holistic disease prevention. He applauded the Department of Pediatrics for its sustained efforts in providing comprehensive immunization facilities throughout the week.
At GIMS, Immunization OPD services operate six days a week (Monday to Saturday) under the supervision of Dr. Meetu Singh, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Nodal Officer for Immunization. The institute provides free vaccination as per the National Immunization Schedule of the Government of India, covering neonates, infants, adolescents, and antenatal women.

Reflecting the growing public trust and outreach, GIMS reported a remarkable rise in immunization visits, reaching 10,064 in the year 2024–2025. The institute also offers additional vaccines—including typhoid, influenza, and hepatitis A—at subsidized rates. Nearly 4,000 children benefited from these optional vaccines over the same period, highlighting GIMS’s active role in promoting broader immunization coverage.
During the event, healthcare experts urged attendees to adhere to complete vaccination schedules and dispel myths surrounding immunization. They emphasized that vaccination remains one of the most cost-effective ways to ensure community well-being and prevent outbreaks.
Reaffirming the institute’s mission, Dr. Meetu Singh noted, Our goal is to turn every vaccine into a vaccination—to ensure that no child, adolescent, or adult is left unprotected. Every dose brings us one step closer to a healthier tomorrow. The World Immunization Day celebration at GIMS concluded with a pledge to strengthen public health outreach and continue raising awareness on vaccine-preventable diseases. GIMS provides immunization services Monday to Saturday.
