GNIDA to construct 9 pink toilets in Gr Noida by July 2021

Greater Noida: Marking International Women’s Day on Monday, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority laid the foundation stone of a Pink toilet at Alpha 1 Metro station. To ensure women’s safety in the city, GNIDA has planned to construct 9 pink toilets at prominent spots of the city, under the project ‘Mission Shakti’

The ceremony was attended by Gautam Budh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Nagar and all three MLA of the region – Pankaj Singh, Dhirendra Singh, Tejpal Singh Nagar, CEO GNIDA Narendra Bhooshan, ACEO Deep Chandra along with other senior authority officials.

Talking about this project, CEO GNIDA said, “We are constructing 9 pink and 21 common toilets across the city under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. These toilets will we built under the BOT model (Built, Operate and Transfer). An appointed company will bear the construction cost on their own and later they will generate income through putting advertisement on the structure. This model will enable the project proponent to recover its investment, operating and maintenance expenses in the project. For this Authority will provide a license for 10 years to the appointed company and generate a revenue of 5 crores from it. All the toilets are expected to be operational by July for public.

Speaking at the event, MP Mahesh Sharma said, “Central government under the leadership of PM Modi and state government under Yogi Adityanath has done a commendable job in the field of women empowerment.” He also claimed that during the regime of the BJP government, crime against women in the state has witnessed a significant dip and Gautam Budh Nagar in a prime example of it. “The commissionerate system has curbed crime in the district to a large extent.”
