#Gorakhpur BJP MLA threatens to skin police officials alive if no action is taken against Charu Nigam

Lucknow, May 11: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Radha Mohan Das Agarwal to meet him in Lucknow after he threatened senior police officials that they would be ‘skinned alive’ if they failed to take action against IPS officer Charu Nigam for violating service rules.

“If you fail to act against the woman IPS officer for violation of service rules, I will raise the issue in the Assembly following which not only will Charu Nigam lose her job, but you will also be skinned alive,” Agarwal warned the inspector general of police (IGP), deputy inspector general and senior superintendent of police (Gorakhpur), the Hindustan Times reported.

The MLA drew flak after he had a heated argument with Nigam leaving her teary-eyed. The incident occurred in Kareemnagar area of the city where some people, protesting against a liquor shop, were removed by the police.

After the Chief Minister spoke to Agarwal, the MLA ended his sit-in against unlicensed liquor shops in Gorakhpur at 3:30pm on Wednesday. Agarwal said he would hand over a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking action against the unlicensed liquor vends.

On Wednesday, Agarwal had asked senior police officials to go through Nigam’s Facebook posts in order to book her for violation of service rules.

“A government official, no matter how big his status is or which department he belongs to, has no right to express his views openly through newspapers or the social media,” he said.

Agarwal had earlier alleged that Uttar Pradesh Police was allowing liquor shops to run in residential areas in violation of rules in Gorakhpur.
