Greater Noida: Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority is planning to build an extension of the Aqua Line metro to link it with Delhi Metro to provide a seamlessly connectivity between the corridor. GNIDA may propose the plan in the upcoming board meeting.

Authority has come up with this decision as the newly inaugurated Aqua Line metro is not getting adequate ridership. Aqua line became operational in January and officials had assessed that with time ridership will improve but now they realize that without an interchange with DMRC, ridership will not improve.

So now GNIDA is planning to build interchanges possible at three stations – Botanical Garden, Sector 18 (Blue Line) and Okhla Bird Sanctuary (Magenta Line). Official thinks that as Greater Noida has cheaper flat rents and peaceful environment, people prefer to live here while working in Delhi and other parts of NCR.

A source in the GNIDA said, a study will be undertaken of the route and the best interchange option will be picked up as the Aqua Line has so far failed to fulfil the transportation gap between Delhi and Greater Noida.
