Green survey for night safari project

 In order to fast-track the Rs 700 crore Night Safari project in Gautam Budh Nagar, the Greater Noida Authority has decided to rope in a consultant to handle the environment impact assessment (EIA) of the project. The EIA consultant, to be appointed by the first week of September, will be responsible for obtaining environment clearances (EC) for the proposed project. 

According to officials, EIA has been made mandatory under the Environmental Protection Act, 1986, for selected categories of developmental activities involving investments of Rs 50 crore and above. It is a formal process to predict the environmental consquences of a proposed project prior to its implementation.
