Gurugram court summons Alibaba founder for wrongful termination of employee

Gurugram ( Haryana): Gurugram district court has issued summons to Alibaba founder Jack Ma for alleged wrongful termination of an employee.

As per a case filed in the court, former associate director of UC Web Mobile Company, Pushpandra Singh Parmar has claimed of being wrongfully terminated by the company, which is a subsidiary of Alibaba group.

Sharing details of the case, Lawyer Atul Ahlawat said, “My client Pushpandra Singh Parmar has filed a civil suit against Jack Ma, the Founder of Alibaba Group, for wrongful termination. He was working as an Associate Director with Alibaba’s UC Web Mobile Company. He is seeking a compensation of Rs. 2 crores.”

He also stated that the Gurugram District Court has issued summons to the defendants, including Jack Ma, the Founder of Alibaba Group.
“Summons are returnable for 29th July. Till date, we have not received any response from the defendants,” informed the lawyer.

UC Browser, which is one of the popular mobile browsers, with over 50 crore downloads, has been banned in India. The government said that it decided to impose the ban as the browser was amongst the 59 apps that “pose a threat to sovereignty and security” of the country.
