H.E. DR. S.C. JAMIR, HON’BLE GOVERNOR OF ODISHA VISITED 42ND EDITION OF IHGF-DELHI FAIR AUTUMN FAIR 2016
October 17, 2016 – H.E. Dr. S.C. Jamir, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha visited the 42nd edition of IHGF-Delhi Fair Autumn 2016 being held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Alemla Jamir.
The Hon’ble Governor met with the artisans and entrepreneurs of North East Region who have been invited by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts to display their products in a thematic set up during the fair. While interacting with the entrepreneurs of NER, Hon’ble Governor said that North East Region is going to be a bridge between two civilisations i.e. Eastern and Western and North Eastern states should be prepared in terms of professional and skill capabilities to grab the opportunity. The artisans can be engine for development of NER because developmental activities now have been geared up by Govt. of India and people know the culture and tradition of NER.
While welcoming the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director said that EPCH have made lots of efforts to provide the marketing platform for product made by entrepreneurs, artisans and craftpersons of North Eastern Region through participation in world largest fair IHGF-Delhi Fair being organised by EPCH twice a year to have direct linkage with the overseas buying community. Beside providing platform, EPCH has office in Guwahati and have appointed designers in all states of NER to help the artisans and entrepreneurs for design and product development as per demands of overseas buying community.
Products like bags made out of natural fiber, cane and bamboo, furniture, decoratives, gifts, dry flowers, shawls and hand woven textiles and made ups are on display FROM NER and buyers from many countries are getting attracted to these products elaborated Mr. Kumar.
Mr. Kumar further said buyers seen busy even on fourth day of the fair in finalising their orders with the participants. The show will be concluded on 18th October, 2016 and EPCH is expecting that huge business enquiries will be generated during five days event.
