The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a long-term framework to promote research-driven innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development in the healthcare and medical technology sectors.
The partnership seeks to bring together clinical expertise, technological capabilities, and entrepreneurial support systems to encourage the development of transformative solutions in areas such as medical devices, biotechnology, digital health, assistive technologies, and healthcare delivery systems. By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for researchers, clinicians, innovators, students, and startups working to address emerging healthcare challenges.
Under the agreement, GIMS and IIHMF will collaborate on a wide range of activities including clinical validation of healthcare innovations, translational and applied research, startup incubation and co-incubation programs, mentoring support, intellectual property development, commercialization of technologies, innovation competitions, entrepreneurship workshops, and capacity-building initiatives.
Addressing the occasion, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Director of GIMS, emphasized the growing importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in solving healthcare challenges.
He stated that modern healthcare demands integrated solutions that combine medical knowledge with technological innovation. According to him, the partnership will help bridge the gap between clinical requirements and emerging technologies, paving the way for impactful innovations that can enhance patient outcomes and strengthen healthcare systems across India.

Highlighting the significance of the alliance for entrepreneurs and innovators, Dr. Rahul Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the CMI-GIMS Foundation, said that the collaboration would create a comprehensive support ecosystem for healthcare startups. He noted that innovators would benefit from access to clinical expertise, validation facilities, incubation infrastructure, mentoring networks, and industry linkages, enabling them to transform promising ideas into scalable and socially relevant healthcare products and services.
Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwari, Director of IIHMF and head of the MNNIT incubator, described the partnership as an important step toward integrating academic research, technological excellence, and real-world healthcare needs. He remarked that the collaboration would provide innovators and startups with an enabling platform to develop, test, and scale next-generation healthcare technologies while nurturing future leaders in the MedTech and HealthTech sectors.
Beyond startup support, the two institutions will also work together on securing government-funded research projects and sponsored innovation programs. The partnership is expected to create avenues for students, faculty members, researchers, and entrepreneurs to engage in technology development, commercialization activities, and research-led enterprise creation.
Signed for a period of five years, the MoU reflects the shared vision of both organizations to build a dynamic innovation ecosystem capable of driving technological advancements in healthcare. The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to the development of next-generation medical solutions while reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a key destination for healthcare innovation, research excellence, and startup-driven economic growth.
With increasing emphasis on indigenous innovation and technology-led healthcare transformation, the alliance between GIMS and IIHMF-MNNIT Allahabad is being viewed as a significant step toward creating impactful solutions that can benefit patients, healthcare providers, and society at large.
