Heavy rainfall in #MadhyaPradesh claims 14 lives including three children

Heavy rainfall for the fourth consecutive day has made the lives difficult for people in several parts of Madhya Pradesh. The Southwestern part of the state has been hit the worst. The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain was also flooded and the daily ritual called Bhasma Arti was performed in these trying conditions. The rest of the Ujjain is also flooded  and the water level of the Shipra river has risen to dangerous levels, hampering the lives of those who live near the river. The temples built at other ghats of Shipra like the Ram Ghat, Narsingh Ghat and Datt Ghat are flooded as well.

Be it the Narmada river or the Betwa and Shipra. Road connection is lost in many parts of Indore where several colonies are badly affected. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have started evacuating people from those areas which are likely to get flooded.

In the Rajgarh district, three children (age group 6-12 years) are believed to have drowned in a pit filled with a rainwater.  In the Sehore district, 11 individuals from three families were swept away by the swirling waters. NDRF found eight bodies and the search is on for more survivors. In Shajapur district, two buses were trapped in a drain and all 125 passengers have been rescued.

Emergency centres have been set up in 51 districts of Madhya Pradesh where 4,800 individuals have been placed to offer help. 110 rescue teams have been reserved as standby whereas 185 boats are prepared for the rescue operations. As per the official statistics, 836 individuals from across Madhya Pradesh have been rescued so far in 22 incidents.
