Greater Noida News (02/05/2026): Fr. Agnel School, Greater Noida, witnessed a vibrant blend of culture, achievement, and meaningful reflection during its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony (Classes I–XII), held on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. The event celebrated not only academic success but also the broader vision of holistic education through an engaging lineup of performances, awards, and inspiring addresses.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the grand light-and-sound presentation titled “Karuna Samrat,” a theatrical portrayal of Emperor Ashoka’s transformation from a fierce conqueror to a messenger of peace and compassion. Through powerful narration, dramatic visuals, music, and student performances, the play depicted key moments from Ashoka’s life—especially the aftermath of the Kalinga war—emphasizing values such as non-violence, empathy, and moral responsibility. The presentation resonated deeply with the audience, aligning with the spirit of Buddha Purnima and reinforcing timeless human values.

The Ceremony was graced by Justice M. L. Mehta as the Chief Guest, alongside Father Rodrigues Bento, Director of the school, and Gajanan Mali, Founder of Ten News Network. A large gathering of parents, students, and faculty members added to the grandeur of the occasion.

The program began with a formal introduction and prayer song, followed by Father Bento’s welcome address. Students were honored across a wide range of categories, including Academic Excellence, Full Attendance, Good Samaritan, Emerging Innovator, Best Sportsperson, Best Orator, Best Singer, Best Dancer, Best Actor, Best Artist, and Emerging Star, recognizing both scholastic and co-curricular achievements.

Justice M. L. Mehta: Education Must Go Beyond Books

In his keynote address, Justice M. L. Mehta expressed deep appreciation for the students’ performances and the meaningful message conveyed through the depiction of Emperor Ashoka’s life. He remarked that such themes are highly relevant in today’s world and appreciated the school management for creating a platform that blends learning with values.

He shared that interacting with young minds brings a unique sense of joy and fulfillment, noting that the enthusiasm and talent displayed by the students were truly remarkable. Congratulating all award recipients and their families, he acknowledged their hard work and encouraged other students to strive for similar excellence in the future.

Highlighting the larger purpose of education, Justice Mehta emphasized that achievements are not solely the result of individual effort but the outcome of collective participation involving students, teachers, parents, and the institution’s leadership. He underlined that while children are at the center of any educational system, the vision and commitment of the school, along with the dedication of teachers, play a crucial role in shaping young minds.

He also stressed the importance of parental involvement, stating that strong collaboration between schools and families is essential to prepare children for real-world challenges. According to him, true education goes beyond rote learning and memorization; it must be holistic, experiential, and rooted in values that help students navigate society with confidence and responsibility.

Citing an inspiring real-life example, he spoke about a differently-abled student who, despite severe challenges, achieved exceptional academic success through her mother’s unwavering dedication and innovative teaching methods. He described this as a powerful reminder of the impact of parental commitment.

Concluding his address, Justice Mehta called for a culture of respect towards educational institutions, teachers, and peers. He urged students to develop a sense of belonging towards their school and reminded parents of their shared responsibility in nurturing this environment of trust and respect.

Father Rodrigues Bento: We Exist Because of Our Children

In his address, Father Rodrigues Bento highlighted Justice Mehta’s long-standing association with the institution, describing him as a key member of the school’s managing committee since 2011 and a trusted friend of the Agnel community for decades. He expressed gratitude for his continued guidance and support over the years.

Addressing the parents, Father Bento delivered a heartfelt message emphasizing the central role of children in both families and educational institutions. He remarked that just as parents are defined by their children, schools too exist because of students, making their well-being and development the highest priority.

He urged parents and educators to work together not only for the academic success of children but also for their overall growth, particularly their moral and spiritual development, which he described as essential in today’s rapidly changing world. Reaffirming the school’s commitment, he expressed confidence that with continued cooperation from parents, the institution would achieve even greater milestones.

A Celebration of Values and Vision

The Annual Award Ceremony was concluded with a curtain call, vote of thanks, and the school anthem, leaving the audience inspired and reflective. The event stood as a testament to Fr. Agnel School’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals through a balanced approach that integrates academics, values, creativity, and experiential learning.

By combining recognition of achievements with meaningful cultural expression, the school once again reinforced its mission of preparing students not just for exams, but for life.
