4th edition of Home Expo India, (HEI-2015) – the three-in-one show which encompasses three product specific show viz. Indian Furnishings, Floorings and Textiles Show (IFFTEX), Indian Furniture and Accessories Shows (IFAS) and Indian Houseware and Decoratives Show (IHDS) — will get started at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida Expressway, NCR, New Delhi from April 16- 18 April, 2015.

A press meet was held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida today. Chairman EPCH Shri Lekhraj Maheshwari, Shri Shujaat Qazi, Vice President of Home Expo India 2015, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director – EPCH, Shri Raj Kumar Malhotra, Shri Ravi Passi and Shri Dinesh Kumar, Member COA were present during press. Shri Rakesh Kumar, ED – EPCH apprised the press and media about the event and highlights have been planned during the show.
Over 500 participants (including marts) will be displaying best of their products to enable a large number of overseas buyers including renowned international brands from across the globe offering them three premium sourcing opportunities under one roof. The products on offer will be all inclusive, right from ready products to a choice in materials, components, hardware and accessories. The show will have the advantage of taking place at a venue which has the world class facilities and infrastructure for conducting business.
The most important aspect of Home Expo India is the confirmation from large number of top buyers, buying houses, import houses, chain stores, boutique owners and interior decorators from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, Finland, Cyprus, Estonia, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Netherland, Norway, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, USA, UAE and UK to visit and source at this show informed Mr. Rakesh Kumar, ED – EPCH.
The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), organizers of the Home Expo India, has been successfully organizing for the past 21 years Asia’s largest Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (IHGF) twice a year viz. Spring and Autumn to promote exports of Handicrafts from India to various destinations. Over the years, IHGF has acquired the reputation of “One Stop Sourcing Event” amongst the overseas buying community and ‘most effective marketing medium’ amongst the Indian exporting community.
The need for organizing the Home Expo India was felt during the visits of overseas buyers to the mother fair i.e. Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair in the past when they expressed the desire of visiting product segmented specialized trade shows rather than general shows covering all product categories. This led to the setting up of Home Expo India making the same a wholesome show that a ‘Home total’ tag attached to it. The intension was to make Home Expo India a benchmark event for premium merchandise for the targeted buyers segment informed Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director –EPCH.
“Having given shape to the idea called Home Expo India, EPCH’s publicity and promotional activities have been aggressively pursued at prime trade shows in the select markets abroad,” elaborated the Executive Director.
The EPCH will lay special focus on specialties of select regions of India at this show. In this direction, there will be separate pavilion of products from North Eastern Region. North East is known for producing abundant quantity and variety of cane and bamboo beside silk and other kinds of fabrics. Craftsmanship of NER is also simple yet it has uniqueness of its own. Therefore, the handicrafts of NER acquires their own characteristics and importance. Handicrafts of North East on display at Home Expo 2015 will consist of home accessories, home furnishing, made ups, fabrics, shawls, textiles, gifts, trimmings and embellishments. Handmade silk carpet, jute mats, houseware accessories and bags, furniture and furnishing textiles and gifts and fashion jewellery and accessories etc.
Another important aspect of the Home Expo India 2015 is the thematic exhibition of handicrafts products developed by artisans of SC category and artisans and craftpersons from mega clusters Lucknow, Bareilly and Bhuj. These artisans have been working in the clusters which have not been taped up due to lack of exposure. The objective of this thematic exhibition is to explore International market for their products and to have the opportunity of interacting directly with the overseas buyers. They will be displaying houseware, decorative, gifts, Christmas, candles, incense sticks, home textiles, furnishing, floor coverings, fashion jewellery, accessories and bags, cane and bamboo etc.
ED – EPCH further added that a seminar will also be held on Home Style Trend Forecast 2016 on 17th April, 2015 at fair venue. The major markets for exports of Home Furnishing, Floorings, Home Textiles, Furniture & Accessories, Houseware and Decoratives have been USA, Canada, countries in European Union like France, Italy, UK, Netherlands etc. in addition to UAE, Japan and Switzerland.
Home Expo India 2015 is expected to generate great business deals for direct import as also for tie- ups, collaborations, alliances and joint ventures for product development, product innovation and International sales.
Handicraft export has been growing at an average annual growth rate of 15% during the last decade. However, growth during the current year was 18.05% in rupee terms and 16.81%% in dollars terms as compared to previous year. Exports of handicrafts during the year 2014-15 was Rs. 27,746.84 crore, informed Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director – EPCH
