Greater Noida (September 8, 2026): Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, is emerging as a significant healthcare innovation and medical technology hub in Uttar Pradesh, with a growing focus on Artificial Intelligence, MedTech startups, clinical research and hospital-based innovation under the leadership of Brig. GIMS Startup Clinic Boosts Healthcare Innovation

A major milestone was the launch of the Startup Clinic at GIMS in August 2026 through its Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI). The initiative brought together nearly 40 healthcare, MedTech and HealthTech startups and innovators, providing a platform for clinical validation, regulatory guidance, investment readiness and scale-up.

The Startup Clinic aims to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and practical healthcare applications by connecting entrepreneurs directly with clinicians and hospital-based challenges.

Brig. Dr. Rakesh Gupta has emphasised the importance of bringing doctors, engineers and management professionals together so that innovations are driven by genuine clinical requirements.

The proposed innovation journey can be summarised as:

Clinical Need → Innovation → Prototype → Clinical Validation → Regulatory Approval → Investment → Scale-up

AI at the Centre of GIMS Innovation Strategy

Artificial Intelligence is another major focus of GIMS. The institute recently organised the “AI for the Practicing Clinician – From Mystery to Mastery” workshop, covering AI tools for clinical practice, medical documentation, research and data analysis.

GIMS has also been developing an AI-focused startup and medical innovation ecosystem, positioning the institution at the intersection of healthcare and emerging technology.

The institute’s innovation initiatives received another boost with approval under the DST NIDHI i-TBI Ignition Grant Programme, which GIMS described as a landmark achievement for a medical institution in Uttar Pradesh.
