I.T.S. Engineering Greater Noida organized a Skill Training in Power Sector which was conducted by Ms. Vatsala Sharma, Dy. Director, & Mr. Mahendra Singh, Assistant Director, National Power Training Institute, Faridabad (Ministry of Power, Govt. of India) from 8 th -10 th September 2016 for EEE 3 rd and 4 th Year students.Day -1 ( 8 th September 2016)The event started with welcome of guest by honorable HOD, EEE, Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Kakkar and his key note address followed by expert lecture. Ms. Sharma explained Sources of Energy, Generation and its Process, the Power System Structure in Regulated and Deregulated scenario. She explained advancement in Power System with recent generation, transmission and distribution statistics in India, Regional Grid, National Grid, Load Dispatch Center along with Renewable Energy possibilities and its Technical analysis. Power Transmission Technology and up gradation in Voltage level was also discussed. In after noon session, Mr. Mr. Mahendra Singh, discussed the technological aspects of Power System Analysis. He explained Load flow analysis and series and Shunt Compensation along with HVDC system.First day of session was concluded by the program coordinator, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan,Assistant Professor, EEE Department, with vote of Thanks.Day -2 ( 9 th September 2016)Students visited the National Power Training Institute, Faridabad on second day of Training. The main objective of the visit was to show the students the various processes involved in operation and maintenance of Power Stations and all other aspects of Electrical Energy Systems including Transmission, Sub-Transmission and Distribution. The visit was started with the lecture by Ms. Vatsala Sharma (Deputy Director, NPTI Faridabad) and Mr. Mahendra Singh (Assistant Director, NPTI Faridabad). They discussed about the history and main objectives of NPTI. According to them the main objectives of NPTI are to function as a National Organisation for training in the field of – (a) operation and maintenance of Power Stations. (b) All other aspects of Electrical Energy Systems including Transmission, Sub-Transmission and Distribution. (c) To act as an apex body for initiating and coordinating training programmes in the power sector in the country. (d) To establish and run training Institutes for Engineers, Operators, Technicians and other personnel of Power Sector. After having lunch, the entire students were divided in two groups and scheduled to visit the simulator in the leadership of Ms. Vatsala Sharma (Deputy Director, NPTI Faridabad) and Mr. Mahendra Singh (Assistant Director, NPTI Faridabad). During this visit students got idea about how a thermal power station works and how the various parameters of a thermal plant are controlled during the electricity production process. Students also learnt how an electrical power plant works in online and off-line mode. Day -3 (10th September 2016)Solar Design Aspect & PV system Software implementation and different case studies of Solar Design was explained by Ms. Vatsala Sharma and Mr. Mahendra Singh on last day of the event. In morning session, Ms. Sharma discussed the theoretical aspects of PV array design with characteristics and functioning of different components involved. She also rendered the description of Grid and Smart Grid in power system advancement. In evening session, Mr. Mahendra Singh demonstrated PV system Software PVSystV5.75 with simulation tools where students learnt Prelim Design for GRID Connected and Stand Alone System, Detail Project Report wchich includes Capacity Analysis, Life Expectancy, Civil Design with the help of PVSystV5.75.At the end of session different Solar based projects had been discussed and students were advised to contact the Trainers whenever their help is felt in near future. In 3 days session students were trained with Power Skill of the Sources of Energy Generation and its Process, Electricity Transmission and Distribution system and Solar design & Software implementation. This knowledge will be implemented in terms of Projects, IPR, Paper publication and in cracking the technical Interview in their Placement.
