IAS Durga Shankar Mishra set to be next Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary
Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections early next year, Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been appointed as the Secretary of Uttar Pradesh government.
Mishra, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was due to retire on Friday.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved repatriation of Shri Durga Shankar Mishra, lAS (UP: 1984) to his cadre for his proposed appointment as Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh,” the order regarding the move read.

Durga Shankar Mishra will replace Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, a 1985 batch IAS officer, who is due to retire in February 2023.
Durga Shankar Mishra holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Kanpur) Kanpur and an MBA from Western Sydney University. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. Apart from this, IAS Mishra has a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management.
