If Akhilesh doesn’t listen to me, I will contest against him in UP polls, says Mulayam Singh Yadav
Lucknow, Jan 16: Taking the whole Samajwadi Party feud a notch higher, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Monday that if son Akhilesh does not listen to him, he will contest against him in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls. He further added that overlooking the needs of the Muslim population of the state has affected the Party’s outlook and has given it an anti-Muslim look.
The supremo further said that Akhilesh paid no heed to what he said and he did not expect his son to join the ‘virodhi’ (opponents) and emphasised that if the Election Commission does not give them the party symbol of ‘bicycle’, he will contest the assembly election with a separate symbol. The Party Supremo also emphasised that he will abide by any judgement passed by the Election Commission and will accept the judgement wholeheartedly.
The SP chief said that he have been summoning Akhilesh thrice but the Uttar Pradesh chief minister arrived only for a brief moment and also ignored most of the things he said. According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the SP chief told the party workers that at the point of time the ‘bicycle’ symbol is neither with them nor with Akhilesh and sought support from the workers to accept the judgement of the Election Commission.
The recent spat in the SP arose out of the claims of Mulayam SIngh Yadav on Monday that Akhilesh was against the appointment of a Muslim DGP. In addition to that Mulayam alleged that Akhilesh expelled leaders from the party like Balram Yadav, Om Prakash, Narad Rai and Ambika Chowdhary and questioned the reasons for their expulsion.
