IIM Ahmedabad Director encourages students to strive for innovation at India International Education Expo 2023

New Delhi (India), April 29, 2023: The India International Education Expo being held at Indi Expo Mart, Greater Noida is witnessing gathering of distinguished educationists, industry experts and students.
During the 2nd day of the exhibition, Sparsh Business School and ASMA hosted a conference on “Revisiting the Purpose and Vision of Higher Education: An Imperative to Paradigm Shift”.
Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director of BIMTECH, spoke at the conference’s inauguration and emphasized the importance of higher education in transforming the world’s economy. He said, “Our founding fathers envisioned establishing IIMs and IITs in the 60s. Now, we are looking towards 2047 when higher education will provide solutions and innovation through researchers. The growth will be exponential, and higher education is the vehicle that can transform the whole world.”
He also expressed optimism that the country would witness the benefits of the National Education Policy within the next five years.
Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, shared his thoughts on the changing vision and purpose of higher education, with the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. He said, “The NEP 2020 will transform India. Local connect will also be a key focus. Future hi-tech institutes and universities will be established, and a sustainable campus will be one that has a solar campus, water harvesting, and tree plantation.”
According to Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, “the whole idea is to provide the best education to everyone,” and he praised the Swayam portal for providing an opportunity for higher education.
He emphasized the importance of adapting to the fast-paced changes of the world, saying that “The life of a degree has become 2 years since 2015,” and that classes need to be more skill-oriented and practical in nature.” He also encouraged students to discover themselves and to strive for innovation, citing Uber as an example of problem-solving through innovation. Professor Bhasker stressed the importance of ethics, saying, “While doing all this, be ethical, also stand up and confront the problem creators, and ensure ethical practices are happening around you to make sure society remains ethical.”
The conference provided a platform for educators and industry experts to come together to discuss the changing vision and purpose of higher education, its challenges and opportunities, and the need for innovative and practical approaches to education. It highlighted the importance of higher education in transforming the world’s economy and shaping the future of the nation.
Dr. Ravi Kumar Jain, Founding Director, Sparsh Global Business School, Dr. Sandeep Pachpande, Chairman, ASM Group of Institutes, Mr. Rahul Jain, MD, InnoServ Group were amongst the other educationists present during the expo.
